Richard Rumelt, UCLA professor and author of 'Good Strategy Bad Strategy,' told Lenny that most strategic plans are just lists of things people want — 'blue sky' goals with no diagnosis of the actual challenge. His 'crux' concept (borrowed from rock climbing) says you must identify the single hardest move and solve that first. David vs. Goliath wasn't courage — it was strategy: David refused to play the giant's game.
