April Dunford's first job was marketing a product positioned as a 'Microsoft Access killer.' After barely selling 200 copies, they decided to kill it. April made calls to check in with buyers — 20 conversations were identical: 'Sorry, lady, we don't have that.' Then call 21 changed everything: 'Your product made me the hero of the sales team!' They repositioned as an 'embeddable database for mobile devices,' got acquired, and over 20 years later the product still runs on mobile devices worldwide.
