Jeff Weinstein · Building product at Stripe: craft, metrics, and customer obsession
“If you accidentally leaked your dashboard to your customer, they would be ecstatic to learn that that's what you were measuring the whole time.”- Jeff Weinstein
Jeff Weinstein ran a startup building SQL analytics software. When a 20-minute outage happened and no customers complained, he didn't realize the silence was the signal — they didn't have product-market fit. Years later at Stripe Atlas, he created a metric called 'companies with zero support tickets' and drove it from 15% to 85% in 18 months. Market share followed the same curve. His philosophy: if you leaked your dashboard to customers and they'd be ecstatic, you're measuring the right thing.
