“The moment the dogs touched the rabbit, they would never run again because there was like, 'Well, what's next?'”- Nikhyl Singhal

The Story Behind This Song

Nikhyl Singhal grew up going to greyhound dog tracks in the Midwest. The dogs chased a mechanical rabbit around the ring — if one accidentally caught it, it would never race again. He used this as his opening metaphor on Lenny's podcast for what happens to ambitious people who define their career around catching one milestone. His framework: think of your career as a product with versions, plan for the job after the next one, and remember that a 60-year career means even someone 20 years in is only a third of the way through.
