The Story Behind This Song
Julie Zhuo was Episode 2 of Lenny's Podcast. She spent 13 years at Facebook going from IC designer to VP of Design, leading teams of hundreds, and she felt like an imposter the entire way up. She wrote 'The Making of a Manager' partly to process that feeling. What made the episode resonate wasn't the advice; it was the raw honesty. Every VP, every founder, every senior IC who listened said the same thing: 'I thought it was just me.' It wasn't. It never is.
